Tony Brooks

New Plymouth-born Tony was fortunate to have a primary school teacher who believed in teaching through art. Bill Guild, was an inspiration and the instigator of Tony's love of art. The desire to paint remerged later in life for Tony after running business's and raising a family. He now paints mostly in oils and mostly on composite panels which he finds rot and warp resistant. Tony looks for almost abstract like patterns of light and dark in his work. He paints in layers introducing warm and cool tones, differing textures, broken colour and edge variations in order to intrigue the eye.
